There have been no changes to this article or sub-articlesThis year, it will be five years since the Long Term (neurological) Conditions National Service Framework was published and to mark the occasion we have considered undertaking a Mid-point review to gauge progress and to identify areas of good practice.
We have recently embarked on some preparatory work to enable the review to proceed and we have been working with volunteer PCTs from around the ten SHA regions to "test" the survey.
It is hoped that the results of this pilot phase of our work will help to inform our thinking about a wider review, but we will now also need to be mindful of the new administration and their agenda, following the publication of 'Equity Excellence: Liberating the NHS' and their vision of a much stronger emphasis on outcomes.
We believe that the essence of this NSF contains some excellent indicators for quality outcomes, with the eleven quality indicators, and we hope that we can influence the proposed Outcomes Framework through the consultation exercise.
We are now waiting for further guidance on how to proceed from the Department of Health and we will make an announcement via this site as soon as a decision has been made.
